Spent the night in the ER

Mom wasn't having a good day today and I knew that something was wrong but I wasn't quite sure just what was going on. She didn't have lunch and wanted to nap in her bed which is not like her at all (she doesn't like to mess up her bed). When she woke up 3 hours later I noticed that her right leg was pretty swollen...a sign of a blood clot so I called the doctor and we headed off to the ER. Almost 7 hours later we were told she had a clot and to follow up with her doctor because they couldn't give her anticoagulants in the ER since she is a brain cancer patient. I will call her oncologist later on today.

A sort of a funny story about our night in the hospital....when we were being triaged there was a little boy brought in with peas in his nose, HAHAHAHA!! Fast forward to 3 hours later the ER doctor comes in to examine mom and wants to know about the 'foreign matter' in her nose? Sylvie and I look at each other and crack up because it's the little boy who was being triaged at the same time with the peas up his nose! You gotta love hospitals! That's why you have to make sure that you're there for a family member if they are in the hospital...mistakes can and WILL be made!

Oh and did I mention I almost went into a men's room? I didn't feel so bad when a woman who was waiting with her husband went into it!! HAHAHA! It was a long night...but mom is here with us, safe and sound with her legs elevated and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

WOW--how's she doing now? Clots can be scary! I'm actually surprised they sent her home--cancer patient or not.....

As for the "pea-pea nose"--that's funny. had to have JAMMED those suckers up there.....my niece did it w/ peanuts one time--they outlawed peanuts for over a year, in their house!!! My kids have my nostrils--a pig's snout, so nothing would get stuck up there! LOL!

Hope you were able to get to the doctor's office and they were able to treat your Mom.

That is so funny about the little boy.

Hugs

Yes, how is she now? I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

I've mistakenly gone into the mens room before....oops.....I didn't realize it until I came out and saw a man peeing at a urinal and was like 'oh this is odd' and then freaked out b/c I made the connection it was the mens room. lol

So happy to hear your mom is doing better. I laughed at the peas in the nose, too. I'd totally die! lol
