Happy Birthday to meeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

I couldn't resist!! Today is my last birthday in my 40's...next year I will hit the big 5-0!!

Last thursday was mom's 14th month since diagnosis so we are grateful for that!

I had an amazing, fun, relaxing and productive weekend at Croptopia Getaways and I will share some of my layouts as soon as I have some free time to upload the photos! I did 30 layouts but more than that I was happy to get all of the old stuff done that had been in my layout box since last fall. I had a few massages (chair and one table session) and took 2 cricut classes which I am really glad I did since I learned a few features about my cricut that I didn't know about before.

Man I love fridays!!

For so many reasons!

1. I get paid on fridays...every other week. Today was payday for me! Yay!

2. I know that I don't have to wake up at 6:30am the next day.

3. It's laundry day...ok so maybe not that one too much! LOL!

4. I don't have to feel rushed and I can make mom a nice lunch since we usually don't go out.

So basically I just blogged about nothing special just so I could share a recent picture of mom enjoying her lunch today. I made fresh homemade cole slaw and man was that ever good!! Mom loves the tray I bought her last week, too. It's great for those times that I bring her lunch in her room.

It's getting close!!

I mean my weekend crop is about 10 days away and I need to get serious about putting the finishing touches on my packing for the trip!

Took mom to her neurologist yesterday and she was pleased with everything she saw and told us to follow up in 6 months. Six months is a long time when you have this type of diagnosis but I hold on to the fact that I have kept up with another blogger with the same diagnosis and she is at 39 months survival now!

Mom and I celebrated after her doctor's appointment by going out for a delicious lunch complete with a huge appetizer of spinach and artichoke dip and then we both had the delicious 3 cheese penne with grilled chicken! Yummy!!!!

Today was a work day for me and mom went shopping with Sylvie for some new bedding and when I got home I saw how happy she was with her choice, it does look nice and sometimes you need a change. I know that mom spends an awful lot of time in that room so whatever we can do to make it pretty for her I'm all for that.

Mom update

I haven't had much time lately, I'm working and taking care of mom and the house and of course prepping for my crop.

Mom had her visit with the oncologist on tuesday and he was very pleased with her progress and how she looked...in fact he noticed right away that she walked into the office and exam room and that she wasn't in a wheelchair! The Cancer Center is a very long building and his office is all the way at the back so it's a bit of a walk to get there but mom did it and I was so proud of her...even a couple of nurses told her she looked so much better this month compared to last month! Whoo! God is good...I hope for many more good monthly visits with Dr. Wu...mom just loves him to pieces!

On the scrapbooking front I printed off some patterns for cute paper piecing I want to attempt on my own and I am looking forward to trying it out!

I played around a little more with some of the Web 2.0 stuff I learned over the past couple of weeks. I added a Library Thing Widget to my blog as well as some of my You Tube videos on the side bar to the right. I recently had the privilege of seeing Richard Marx and Matt Scannell (from Vertical Horizon) perform an acoustic show and I took a few videos and put them on my You Tube page.

Completed Web 2.0

I'm happy to say that I completed all of the activities for Web 2.0

While there were a lot of things that I was already familiar with and have used in the past I have to say that doing these exercises helped me a great deal! I learned some new and interesting things available to me online that I didn't know about before. I am now using Library Thing and Google Docs as well as Flickr and I probably wouldn't have known about these applications had it not been for the Web 2.0 program through my job.

Finally, I found it really cool that when I got an email (I'm on their email list) from one of my favorite bands, Genesis, directing me to their new fan website they had search buttons on their page to find them on Flickr, You Tube, My Space, Facebook and Wikipedia. I think that a great deal of these tools and networking sites are being used more and more by not only musical artists and celebrities to promote themselves but by ordinary people like you and I to just have fun with.

This has been a great learning experience for me and now it's time to get back to what I started this blog for...scrapbooking. Stay tuned...I am still packing for my 3 day crop at the end of the month!!!

Finally I wanted to just extend my love and condolences to my friend, KellyAnne on the loss of her beloved mom this week.

Craig's List

I haven't had personal experience of my own on Craig's list but my son and my husband both use it and have had good results with it. My son found his apartment on Craig's list back in the fall of last year and he's currently looking for another one because he wants to more closer to home. My husband uses it to advertise for his band or to look for other musicians looking to connect. Right now he has a listing on there looking for a drummer.

Google Docs

Google Docs is a great tool and I have already started using it! I keep a running list of items that I am going to bring to a weekend scrapbook crop and between my friend Sandi and I we decide who will bring what when it is a tool or supply that we both own. With google docs we can edit the document right online and not have to pass an email attachment back and forth which I think is awesome!

What's a WIKI?

I haven't had much time to work on any more of the Web 2.0 activities in the past week or so because most of my free time has been spent preparing for my upcoming weekend crop.

I did some reading up and researching WIKI but haven't really had a chance to blog about it. I've used Wikipedia in the past and I have to admit that I wasn't aware of the fact that it was something that anyone could add to or edit. I'm not so sure that I would feel comfortable using it now if for instance I was helping my son write a report for school because one of the negatives is that you don't really know if the information is correct.

I don't know that I would agree with patrons being able to edit OPAC records because you leave yourself open to spam and other issues unless you had someone checking every entry that was made on a daily basis.

Going back to an earlier exercise I thought it was pretty funny today when I was watching The View to hear them say that Twitter crashed because it was mentioned on their show yesterday.
